Bowie County Women's Center (BCWC) is a Community Corrections Facility that offers an inpatient substance abuse treatment program for non-violent felony and misdemeanor substance abuse offenders as an alternative to incarceration. BCWC serves Bowie County as well as more than 20 other jurisdictions across the state of Texas. BCWC treatment program targets substance use, criminogenic needs, and educational needs as well as referrals to local providers for mental health and medical needs.
Our mission at BCWC is to assist offenders as they find a pathway to recovery and a fulfilling life. Our treatment program has 4 phases with increased privileges in each phase. Intro Phase is an introduction to our facility and treatment; Phase 1 has a treatment focus that addresses criminal and addictive thinking; Phase 2 builds on the foundations of the previous phases with an application of skills; Phase 3 is the transitional phase where residents can gain employment in the community and transition with support and accountability. We are dedicated to teaching strategies that will help offenders identify problem areas, make positive changes, and cope more effectively with life.
While we are a treatment center, we are also a correction facility that emphasizes public safety and compliance with expected rules of behavior. Community Supervision is provided on-site to offenders while they undergo the treatment process. Offenders are expected to comply with BCWC rules and be open to the treatment process. The length of treatment is dependent upon the effort offenders are willing to put into participating in treatment, recovery, and following rules.
